It goes without saying the gambling online is very different
from gambling in Vegas. But that creates many pros as well as some cons. I have constructed a pro and con chart below between the two gambling realities
based on my own experience.
On the (+) side:
1. Online casinos are businesses competing to keep you as a costumer. Many will offer to add between 10 and 50% of your initial deposit to your bankroll as
a sign-up bonus (read more on this below). Other casinos may deposit money in a costumers account at random, or even offer free vacations for certain
levels of total money bet.
2. Online casinos usually have better rules than physical casinos.
3. Online casinos are conveniently located in the comfort of your home.
4. You can avoid smokers and other annoyances associated with physical casinos.
5. You never feel pressured to tip.
On the (-) side:
1. Between the delays on the part of the casino and delays on the part of your credit card, there is usually a waiting period on receiving your money.
Patience is definitely required after cashing out. The time between cashing out and seeing your credit appear back on your card is usually two weeks to a
month. On the other had it only takes 3 to 5 business days for a debit card.
2. Depending on the casino you choose, customer service can be lacking. Some casinos have great e-mail and toll free number customer service networks. Then
there are others with inexcusable e-mail response times and know reachable telephone numbers.
3. In the event of a dispute there is no authority to run to. The usual agreement is that the casino has the final word, even if that means the casino
chooses to create rules as they go along.
4. It is extremely difficult to balance your credit and debit card statements if you play in multiple casinos. Transactions often specify the merchant bank
as opposed to indicating the name of the casino.
